INFORMATION GOVERNANCE

How Long Do We Keep Your Information For?

The Trust is required to keep information for specific, identified periods of time depending on what the information is and this is known as the Retention Period. For example, an adult health record must be retained for 8 years following the last entry; an employee’s work diary (which contains patient identifiable information) must be kept for 2 years following the valid year.

All retention periods are laid out in the NHS Records Management Code of Practice and covers Trust corporate documents as well as patient medical information and the Trust uses this information to determine the retention periods applicable to its information.
