Laura Whitaker, an administrator working in our integrated transfer team, is one of 11,000 people in the UK living with Usher syndrome -a rare genetic condition combining hearing & sight loss but which affects everyone differently. She was diagnosed aged 20 after being born deaf, and losing her vision gradually, now registered blind.
Take a look at this fantastic short film from the Usher Coalition featuring Laura, and wish shows their special ‘touchable memory’ sensory device which helps to shine a light on the condition.
