Welcome to the trauma and orthopaedic service. Our dynamic multi-skilled team provide a comprehensive range of services for most trauma and orthopaedic conditions.
The trauma and orthopaedic service is predominantly provided on our Stepping Hill Hospital site, offering specialist care for patients referred with trauma and orthopaedic problems. Our community physio-led orthopaedic assessment service is provided at Kingsgate House on Wellington Road, Stockport. Many patients within Stockport may initially be referred to the Orthopaedic Assessment service at Kingsgate House for initial triage and assessment with an Advanced physiotherapist prior to possible onward referral to the hospital services if required.
Our team of consultant orthopaedic surgeons is supported by junior doctors, clinical nurse specialists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and an orthotist.
We offer a 24-hour trauma service with dedicated trauma operating theatre sessions 7 days a week, and provide a wide range of planned day case and inpatient surgery within the following sub-specialties; hip and knee, foot and ankle, hand and wrist, shoulder, and spinal surgery. An orthopaedic paediatric service is also provided by a visiting consultant from the Manchester Children’s Hospital.
Our hospital outpatient services are delivered Monday-Friday, predominantly within outpatient department ‘A’. These include elective clinics and dedicated consultant-led fracture clinics. We also offer telephone outpatient appointments where clinically appropriate |
