Stockport is currently experiencing high COVID-19 infection rates, which means that unfortunately we need to restrict visiting to our inpatient wards. This is because inpatients in healthcare settings can be more vulnerable to severe illness because of coronavirus (COVID-19).
Special circumstances
Where the patient has additional needs such as cognitive impairment, learning disability, communication needs or where there are compassionate grounds, a risk assessment and review will be undertaken by the ward manager and matron, on a case by case basis, to allow visitors.
Where the patient is receiving end of life care, a risk assessment will take place to allow visitors, either one at a time at staggered intervals or where social distancing can be maintained for no more than two visitors. Children visiting a patient who is receiving end of life care must be accompanied at all times by the identified visitor and only in circumstances where it has been risk assessed that it is safe to do so.
Visitors who attend under special circumstances should ensure they practice good social distancing, wear appropriate PPE as advised by the ward (including mask) and wash their hands regularly. Visitors must also take a lateral flow test before their visit, regardless of vaccination status, and will be asked to provide proof of a negative result.
Anyone showing any symptoms of COVID-19 should not visit. This is essential for infection prevention and control. If visitors display symptoms of COVID-19 or have a positive lateral flow test result they should follow the latest national guidance which can be found here.
Anyone feeling unwell, even if they have tested negative for COVID-19 and are fully vaccinated and have received their booster, should not visit.
We thank everyone for their patience and support during this continuing difficult time.
