Visiting changes - reintroduction of visiting on selected wards and units
** The contents of this page have expired and the information displayed may not be correct
As restrictions ease on COVID-19, we have updated our visiting restrictions for inpatients to a small selected number of wards and units. These are:
- Ward A 10
- Ward E1
- The Bluebell Unit (in the Meadows Hospital)
- The Devonshire Centre for Neuro-rehabiliation
Other areas remain restricted, for more information see our main visitors page.
New visiting rules for the wards and units listed above are as are as follows:
Visiting patients at Stockport NHS Foundation Trust on selected visiting wards
- Visiting is limited to one identified person per patient, for 30 minutes per session.
- When you arrive on the ward, you will be asked to sign in, and then sign out when you leave.
- Please do not hug or touch the person you are visiting
- Your chair must be placed at the foot of the bed as this ensures 2m social distancing between you and the patient (whether they are in bed or sat in their chair), and also to visitors to other patients.
Visiting times Limited to 30 minutes between the times of:
- 11.00am – 12.00pm
- 2.00pm – 3.00pm
- 7.00pm – 8.00pm
Special circumstances
Where the patient has additional needs such as cognitive impairment, learning disability, communication needs or where there are compassionate grounds, a risk assessment and review will be undertaken by the ward manager and matron, on a case by case basis.
Where the patient is receiving end of life care, a risk assessment will take place to allow additional visitors, either one at a time at staggered intervals or where social distancing can be maintained for no more than two visitors.
Unfortunately children under the age of 16 cannot visit the hospital except where a patient is receiving end of life care. Children must be accompanied at all times by the identified visitor and only in circumstances where it has been risk assessed that it is safe to do so.
