A scheme to help community nurses develop the very best in their skills is up for a national Nursing Times Award.
Stockport NHS Foundation Trust’s district nursing staff development programme has been shortlisted for the ‘Nursing in the Community’ category of the awards which celebrate the best in nursing across the country.
Community nurses in Stockport face the challenge of an ageing population with ever more complex health conditions, many more of whom will be seen in community settings outside of hospital in the future. The staff development programme helps nurses to build on their leadership and clinical skills to help provide enhanced care for patients, with evidence showing real improvements.
Jane Ankrett, Associate Nursing Director for Neighbourhood Services for Stockport NHS Foundation Trust said “This programme has been a really successful way of helping community nurses reach their full potential, and we’re delighted its success has been recognised by judges at the Nursing Times Awards.
The winners of the Nursing Times awards will be announced on the 7th November.
