Excellence in Practice

25 Jul 2013 - Awards

A district nursing team and a senior nurse looking after children with disabilities have won awards for the outstanding support they give to student nurses.

The South Reddish district nursing team and Dawn Bennett-Painter, lead nurse for the ISCAN (Integrated Service for Children with Additional Needs) service in Tameside and Glossop have both received ‘Recognising Excellence in Practice’ awards from The University of Manchester.

The awards were nominated by the students themselves for exceptional standards of advice and support.

Student nurses train on location with the South Reddish district and ISCAN nursing teams to gain practical experience. Both the district nursing team and Dawn were commended for their open, enthusiastic and welcoming attitudes.

Judith Morris, director of nursing and midwifery said, “Excellent training helps build excellent nursing, and we are very proud of the support we give to our student nurses. I would like to thank both the University of Manchester and the students for the appreciation they have shown to Dawn Bennett-Painter and the South Reddish District Nursing team.”

The awards further confirm Stockport NHS Foundation Trust’s reputation for training excellence following its success at the Student Nursing Times Awards earlier in the year, when it became the only NHS organisation in the country to win three separate awards.
