Following our latest review of cases of norovirus on wards at Stepping Hill Hospital, we are glad to announce that the temporary visiting restrictions we announced last week have been lifted. Visiting is once again allowed on our wards.
It is important however to remain vigilant against norovirus, as cases are still in circulation. Norovirus isn’t just unpleasant for those who have it. It impacts on our patients who are already ill, on colleagues who contract the virus, and on those who are working on affected wards. It also significantly impacts on patient flow, where whole wards are isolated with empty beds that can’t be filled until the virus has gone.
Please help to stop the spread of norovirus. If you have any possible symptoms, please do not visit the hospital for at least 48 hours after symptoms stop. These symptoms include sudden onset of feeling sick and wanting to vomit, projectile vomiting and diarrhoea, and can also include a high temperature, pain in the stomach area and aching limbs.
Please also regularly wash your hands with soap and warm water, especially if you are planning to visit the hospital.
Thank you for your help in keeping our patients safe.
