The team which oversees capital projects at Stepping Hill Hospital and community services has been shortlisted for an award recognising the best NHS estates and facilities teams in the country.
Stockport NHS Foundation Trust’s capital projects team are up for the title of ‘Estates and Facilities Team of the Year’ at the annual awards run by the Institute of Healthcare Engineering and Estate Management (IHEEM.)
The team have the task of managing building projects in the challenging environment of Stepping Hill Hospital’s ageing estate. Their major achievement in the past year was the building of the hospital’s new emergency and urgent care campus, which was completed with contractors Tilbury Douglas in May this year.
A small team with varying professional backgrounds, they were able to achieve the careful coordination with contractors, clinical teams and support services which ensured patient care went uncompromised despite the major construction works taking place.
The care campus is now open and providing a greatly improved environment for both patients and staff, enhancing emergency care and patient flow.
The shortlisting recognises not just their technical achievements, but also their collaborative approach, innovative thinking, and unwavering commitment to improving healthcare facilities.

The Winners of the IHEEM Awards will be announced on 21st October 2025 at the Kimpton Clocktower Hotel in Manchester.
