Take part in the public consultation about adult ADHD services in Greater Manchester

06 Jun 2025 - Press Release

NHS Greater Manchester is carrying out a public consultation to help shape the future of adult ADHD services across Greater Manchester.

They are seeking feedback, particularly from individuals, their families, carers, and professionals about the proposed options to improve these services.

Why are services being reviewed?

Waiting times are getting longer. This is because a lot more people are now being referred for medical help than the services were originally designed for. It means some people are really struggling and are not getting support while they are waiting.

There is currently no single waiting list in Greater Manchester for adults waiting for ADHD services, but we estimate 25,000 people are waiting for an assessment, and this is growing every day.

If we do not act, people could be waiting over seven years for assessment and diagnosis and some could experience a wait of up to 10 years.

And if demand continues at current levels, it would also cost the NHS in Greater Manchester at least £10 million a year to fund assessment services, with not enough staff to see people quickly.

The consultation

The consultation is about two potential options for improving access to adult ADHD services and support.?NHS Greater Manchester want to hear your views on these proposed options to help inform the decision.

The consultation will run from 23rd  April to 17th  June 2025. It is open to anybody, but people with lived experience of ADHD are particularly encouraged to share their views. What people tell us through the consultation will be fed into decision making by NHS Greater Manchester and the outcome will be published.

You can view the consultation document on the NHS Greater Manchester website.

Please read it carefully and give feedback on what you think of the proposals. More information can be found on the website or you can get in touch directly.

You can give your feedback by completing the survey (on paper or online), you can write, email, ring, contact us through our social media, or come along to an event.?For more detailed information, please visit the website, call, text or WhatsApp 07786 673762, or email gmhscp.engagement@nhs.net
