Neonatal unit receives kind gift from golf club fundraisers

30 May 2025 - Press Release

Stepping Hill Hospital’s neonatal unit received a kind donation thanks to fundraisers at Bramall Park Golf Club, as a gesture of thanks for their care for family members twelve years ago.

Rosie Day, outgoing Lady Captain at the club, and her twin grand-daughters Phoebe and Tamsin Hadfield were born premature at the hospital back in 2013. Rosie wanted to give thanks for the excellent care they received from the neonatal team back then, ensuring they received the care and support they needed.

As a result Rosie named the unit as the recipient of the club’s ‘Charity of the Year’, and set about a series of fundraising activities. Throughout the year money was raised in many different  ways, including raffling a parking space, a pre-loved clothing sale, jam making and sales, and an indoor putting competition (improvised due to bad weather!)

In total club members raised £3365 for the unit, which they donated together with knitted baby hats made my club members.

The donation was made by Rosie accompanied by both Phoebe and Tamsin, who are fit and happy and doing well at Bramhall High School – with both sisters being young actresses who sing and dance in performances.

The donations were organised through Stockport NHS Charity, the official charity for Stockport NHS Foundation Trust, which aims to improve the health and wellbeing of patients in Stepping Hill Hospital and community NHS services by delivering services above and beyond ordinary standards.

Kate Leadbeater, Charity Manager, said: “I’d like to say a huge heartfelt thank you to Rosie and everyone at Bramall Park Golf Club for their amazing year of fundraising support which has gone into this extremely generous donation for our neonatal unit. This will be used to help enhance the environment for future babies in our care, and their families. It was a real pleasure to work with Rosie and an honour to meet Phoebe and Tamsin all grown up too.”
