NHS teams who care for families and babies in Stockport have celebrated receiving an international award recognising the high standards for breastfeeding.
Health visiting, family nurse and Startwell teams received the prestigious Unicef Baby Friendly Award, and announced their achievement as part of the celebrations for World Breastfeeding Week (1st – 8th August.)
The Baby Friendly initiative supports breastfeeding and all families to develop close, loving relationships with their children during the critical early years.
This award recognises the high standard of care given to families in Stockport and involved examining staff training and interviewing staff and mothers, who gave their feedback about their experience of the care they received.
The Infant Feeding team and has the help of peer supporters, and runs outreach clinic in a number of community locations across Stockport.
