Many years of hard work, care and commitment were honoured as Stockport NHS Foundation Trust celebrated its Long Service Awards.
The awards were recognising the long service of 250 employees of the trust, each of whom has served at least twenty years working at either Stepping Hill Hospital or community NHS services in Stockport. This represents over 5000 years of dedicated service between them.
Over 70 of these staff attended a special afternoon awards ceremony, complete with refreshments, held at Stockport County’s Edgeley Park ground, and hosted by Stockport NHS Foundation Trust’s Chief Executive Karen James OBE, and Chair Professor Tony Warne.
Those at the ceremony were presented with a special certificate and badge commemorating their service, together with a £50 high street shopping voucher. Others who were unable to attend will receive these separately.
Nurses, health visitors, midwives, doctors, domestics, therapists, radiographers, porters, clerks and many more professions were amongst those represented, from both the frontline and the back office, representing the many different roles which go towards providing care for the people of Stockport and the High Peak.
This ceremony was dedicated to those serving over 20 years at the trust, those serving over 30 and 40 years will be honoured at another event in December.
Stockport NHS Foundation Trust Chair Professor Tony Warne said “It was a real pleasure to be able to show our gratitude to colleagues from so many different professions for all their years of hard work and dedication, all of whom have an important role to play towards providing care for our patients and our community. I’d like to thank them all. 5000 years of service is an amazing total, and one we can all be proud of.”
