A contract manager has been shortlisted for a top regional award for going above and beyond in keeping Stepping Hill Hospital staff well supplied throughout the tough times of the pandemic.

Moira Gatley has been shortlisted for the NHS Procurement Outstanding Contribution Award at this year`s NHS in the North Excellence in Supply Awards, which reward the best in healthcare supply support in the region.

Moira is a contract manager for the procurement department at Stockport NHS Foundation Trust, which purchases and supplies goods and services for both Stepping Hill Hospital and community services in the area.  Moira has been a key member of the procurement team for over 32 years, where her role consists of letting and managing contracts and purchasing various medical and non-medical goods and services, making sure staff are well equipped to provide the healthcare their patients need.

Ensuring the supply of some equipment during the COVID-19 pandemic of 2020 was more challenging and the swift deployment of PPE items were required to keep staff safe on the wards. Moira provided invaluable support by ensuring that any purchases made were appropriate, safe and delivered on time whilst maintaining value for money.  The procurement team had to establish a seven day service to respond to unprecedented demand and Moira was keen to support this service.

We are very pleased Moira has been shortlisted for this award which is very much deserved. Moira is due to retire next year and this is a fitting honour to a fine career in the NHS.”
