A trainee working at Stepping Hill Hospital’s intensive care unit (ICU) has been recognised for a project to help other trainees across the country.
Mark Tan, an intensive care medicine trainee who has been working at the hospital’s ICU for six months, has developed a new logbook for fellow trainees to keep track of their training and development. The logbook caught on well and is now in use by teams caring for critically ill patients across England.
Mark was given the Trainee Prize from the ANWICU (Association of North Western ICUs); the regional organization that coordinates educational and networking events in critical care across the North West. Mark presented his project at ANWICU’s latest event at Royal Bolton Hospital, while his trainee colleague Sophie Kreppel was also commended for her demonstration on scientific literature around critically ill patients with sepsis.
As part of the award, Mark and his team received £1000 from the ANWICU to help develop the project further.
