Our Board of Directors has overall responsibility for delivering services and is accountable for operational performance as well as our strategic direction.

David Wakefield
Chair,   David Wakefield - Appointed 01/04/2025
David is our joint chair appointed to Stockport NHS Foundation Trust (SFT) and Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust (TGICFT). The trusts run the respective hospitals of Stepping Hill Hospital and Tameside Hospital alongside community health services in Stockport, Tameside and Glossop.

David Wakefield has held previous Chair roles at NHS Trusts, including his most recent as Chair of the University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust. He is a qualified accountant and has held several senior executive posts, including Commercial Finance Director for Royal Mail. He has also held a number of non-executive directorships.
David Curtis MBE
David Curtis MBE - Appointed 01/08/2025
David is a mental health and general nurse, having had a 40 year full time career in the NHS. He has held senior clinical and managerial positions in mental health, acute and community services and in nurse education. His last NHS position was the Executive Director of Nursing and Integrated Governance in Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust. In 2008 David was awarded an MBE for his services to Nursing and Health Care in Greater Manchester. David has also previously served as a Non-Executive Director in a health and wellbeing NHS foundation trust.

David is also a Non-Executive Director at Tameside & Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust.

David Jago
David Jago - Appointed 02/02/2026
David’s career has been in the NHS for over 35 years working with NHS organisations in the North West.
He started his career as part of the NHS Financial Management graduate scheme in 1989 with the then Mersey Regional Health Authority. David qualified as a CIPFA accountant in 1991 and has worked in finance roles across a number of trusts within Cheshire and Merseyside and Greater Manchester. He has extensive experience in senior finance and director roles and is passionate about the role digital can play in transforming healthcare.

David is also a Non-Executive Director at Tameside & Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust / Stockport NHS Foundation Trust.
Michael Forrest - Appointed 01/04/2026
Michael’s experience includes working for nine years at North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) undertaking roles including Deputy Chief Executive, Director of Workforce and Interim Chief Executive. Michael is also a Non-Executive Director at BARDOC, which provides GP and dentistry out-of-hours services across Greater Manchester.

Michael began his career as a trainee at Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council and went on to be Assistant Executive Director of People and Performance. Michael has also previously held the position of school governor for 11 years at two Tameside schools.
Michael is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development.

Michael has also been a Non-Executive Director at Tameside & Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust since March 2022.
Tony Bell
Tony Bell - Appointed 01/05/2021
Tony, who lives in Sale and is a qualified accountant, began his career in the private sector, largely with the Lex Retail Group.

More recently he has worked in organisations providing public services and with a social value, including as Director of Finance at City College Manchester. There he was responsible for finance, estates and commercial contracts, and much of his work was focused on prison education as the college was the country’s largest provider of prison education.

In recent years he has developed a portfolio career as a Non-Executive Director in the NHS and social housing, most notably on the Audit and Risk Committee on the Guinness Partnership, a national provider of social housing with 60,000 homes and a turnover of £300m, and Board member and Chair of the Audit Committee of its largest subsidiary (Guinness Northern Counties).

He is also a Board member and Chair of the Audit Committee at Wythenshawe Community Housing Group, and ForHousing in Salford.
Dr Louise Sell
Dr Louise Sell - Appointed 01/10/20
Louise is currently working part-time as a consultant liaison psychiatrist with Bury integrated pain service operated by Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust.

A highly experienced psychiatrist, Louise was previously the Executive Medical Director at North West Boroughs NHS Foundation Trust, a post she held for seven years.

Other roles have included consultant addictions psychiatrist and service director at Greater Manchester NHS Foundation Trust and a clinical lecturer in addictions at the University of London.

Peter Blythin - Appointed 01/04/2026
Peter has over 50 years NHS experience across a variety of clinical and leadership roles including Trust, regional and national board director positions. He held the Chief Nurse post at the Trust Development Authority and prior to that was the Director of Nursing & Workforce at the West Midlands Strategic Health Authority.

Peter also spent time at the Department of Health working on policy matters which included liaison with professional and health regulators. His most recent post was as Executive Director of Workforce & Corporate Business at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust.

Peter is a Care Quality Commission Executive Reviewer and Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.

Peter has also been a Non-Executive Director at Tameside & Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust since April 2026.
David Coorey - Appointed 01/04/2026
David started his career as a commercial banker for several years before completing a BSc in nursing and post graduate renal qualification at the University of Sydney in 1990. David moved to the UK in 1991 and worked briefly for the NHS in Scotland before moving into industry.

A highly experienced commercial leader, his early career spanned Pharmaceutical, Clinical Nutrition & Medical devices both in secondary and primary care before gaining a post graduate qualification and Fellowship in marketing and running his own strategy consultancy for 5 years. Moving into Life Sciences in 2011, he has served in senior roles up to most recently Global Senior Vice President spanning discovery research, translational medicine, genomics and diagnostics. David was an advisor on the National Service Framework for Renal in the North West and has previously sat as a Non-Executive Director for the NHS in East Cheshire as well as mentoring young managers in the NHS for the North West mentor programme.

David has also been a Non-Executive Director at Tameside & Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust since April 2026.
Farooq Hakim - Appointed 01/04/2026
Farooq is a seasoned executive with 30+ years of experience leading large-scale business and technology transformations. As part of Oracle Services’ executive leadership team, he has global responsibility for delivering services across Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and Multicloud solutions with Microsoft, Google, and AWS.

Previously at BT, he served as Chief Information Officer, Group Services, leading global digital transformation and contributing to major UK programmes including London 2012 and the NHS IT initiative. He has also held a range of civic and non-executive roles, including Chair of the University of Sunderland, and was appointed High Sheriff (2021/22) and Deputy Lieutenant of Tyne & Wear.

Farooq has also been a Non-Executive Director at Tameside & Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust since April 2026.

Karen James

Chief Executive,   Karen James

Karen James OBE is the Chief Executive of Stockport NHS Foundation Trust, and has also been Chief Executive of Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust since 2014.

Having started her career as a Registered Nurse, she has over the last fourteen years held a number of executive leadership roles in large acute tertiary providers. Karen has significant experience in managing large scale change across complex economies, and has been successful in the delivery of improvements in organisational performance.
John Graham

Chief Finance Officer, Deputy Chief Executive,   John Graham

John is an experienced Chief Finance Officer who has worked for a range of organisations including, a Health Authority, the North West Regional Office, the Directorate of Health and Social Care North, the Department of Health, a Strategic Health Authority, a Mental Health Foundation Trust and a leading University Teaching Hospital.

His most recent post has been that of Executive Director of Finance and Deputy Chief Executive of the Royal Liverpool & Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trust, an acute teaching hospital. Prior to this John was Director of Finance & IMT at Greater Manchester West Mental Health Foundation Trust.
Dilraj Sandher

Dilraj Sandher

Dilraj is joining the Trust as the joint Chief Medical Officer with Tameside & Glossop Integrated Care Trust (TG ICFT), where he has been the Executive Medical Director since June 2022.

Dilraj is a Trauma and Orthopaedic Consultant. After training within the northwest, he started his consultant career at Manchester Royal Infirmary, where he also held the position of Associate Hospital Dean.

Dilraj began his employment at Stockport NHS Foundation Trust in April 2015, progressing to Deputy Medical Director, before joining TG ICFT.
Jacqui Burrow

Chief Nurse,   Jacqui Burrow - Appointed 01/04/2026


Jacqui began her nursing career at Manchester Royal Infirmary, training as a registered general nurse, before working within the accident and emergency department.
In 2000, Jacqui embarked on a different path and trained as a health visitor, working across East Lancashire.

In 2014 Jacqui took on a role at the Northern Care Alliance, moving into strategic nursing and quality roles. This led to Jacqui becoming Deputy Chief Nurse at the Northern Care Alliance before joining Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust (TG ICFT) in 2025. Jacqui became the joint Chief Nurse with Stockport NHS Foundation Trust and TG ICFT in April 2026.
Amanda Bromley

Chief People Officer,   Amanda Bromley

Amanda is a highly motivated HR/OD professional with extensive operational and strategic experience, which has been obtained from holding senior HR positions in a number of organisations in acute, community and mental health services.

Amanda commenced her career at Tameside Community & Priority Services NHS Trust before moving on to Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust, Tameside Acute NHS Foundation Trust and the University Hospital of South Manchester NHS Foundation Trust. She returned to Tameside Hospital NHS Foundation Trust in June 2013 and has recently led the establishment of the Mass Vaccination Centre with Tameside & Glossop being the Lead Employer for Greater Manchester.

Amanda is passionate about putting staff and patients at the heart of everything she does and she firmly believes that the development of a culture built around engagement, inclusivity, continuous learning and shared values enables an organisation to be successful and sustainable.
Jackie McShane

Chief Operating Officer,   Jackie McShane

Jackie joined Stockport NHS Foundation Trust in December 2020 as Director of Operations, having previously held the same post at Tameside & Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust. She has over 12 years senior management experience in acute sector NHS roles across a number of North West trusts. Prior to joining the NHS Jackie worked within the private sector in the logistics sector.
