Today’s BBC Morning included a feature on NHS catering, with a visit to Stepping Hill Hospital’s kitchens, and both an interview and cooking demonstration with Stockport NHS apprentice chef Joe Omolo, who won the award of joint NHS Chef of the Year in 2025. The awards were set up to improve the quality of catering for patients and have continued to do so with the help of mother Charlotte Fairall in memory of her daughter Sophie.

The film includes footage of how Joe won the competition, and BBC presenter and fellow chef Briony May Williams visiting the hospital kitchens, cooking with Joe and talking to him about how he got into being a chef in the first place.
