Stepping Hill Hospital staff got a big thank you from post-punk hero Jah Wobble for looking after him over his birthday.
The legendary bass player first came to fame with Public Image Ltd, the band John Lydon formed following the break-up of the Sex Pistols. He has played with a huge variety of musicians over the years, and currently fronts his own band Jah Wobble’s Invaders of the Heart.
Jah, real name John Wardle, has lived in Stockport for a while, and found himself staying in Stepping Hill Hospital on his 59th birthday. He took to Twitter to praise his care; “Celebrating birthday w surprise stay at Stepping Hill Hospital, v well looked after by English, Spanish, Bulgarian , Rumanian NHS staff ……. Special thx to the staff of the acute medical unit @StockportNHS watching you work is a humbling experience. #NHS”
He also praised the ward’s tea brewing skills, and added “And I apologise unreservedly for creeping out the ward to do 100 press ups, and 100 sit ups and yoga”!
