The garden area of Stepping Hill Hospital’s Treehouse children’s unit has re-opened with a colourful refurbishment, courtesy of Stockport NHS Charity and local businesses.

Warden Construction Ltd and Meel Group provided the extensive upgrade of the outside garden and play area for young patients themselves, organised through the charity as a gift donation. Representatives from both companies joined the charity, Treehouse play team staff and Stockport NHS Foundation Trust Chief Executive Karen James OBE at the opening.   

The refurbishment incudes a multi coloured fencing and seating area, which is now in place alongside the garden’s existing facilities which include model giraffes and other play facilities.

This garden upgrade for our Treehouse Children’s Unit is the most extremely generous gift and appreciated greatly. This bright appealing outdoor space is so important as it helps provide a great distraction for our young patients to play and have fun, all helping to reduce anxiety.”

Stockport NHS Charity exists to enhance patient care at Stepping Hill Hospital and in the community by providing services and resources beyond standard NHS provision.
