20 May 2025 - Press Release

An associate director in Stepping Hill Hospital’s estates and facilities team has won a major national award within the industry for outstanding leadership.

Dan Reason, Associate Director of Estates and Facilities for Stockport NHS Foundation Trust won the ‘Leader of the Year’ trophy at the annual awards from the Health Estates and Facilities Management Association (HEFMA), held at their National Leadership Forum at the  Telford International Centre.

Dan began work at the Stockport NHS Foundation Trust estates and facilities team in 2017 and was promoted to his current role in 2019.

The award recognises his leadership during changing and challenging times for the hospital estate in recent years, which has included the pandemic, the implementation of multiple compliance standards, and major building projects, including the recently completed emergency and urgent care campus, and the upcoming new outpatients building.

Dan is a respected and accomplished leader who inspires and motivates his team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation and continuous improvement. His leadership style is characterised by a strong sense of vision, a willingness to take calculated risks and a passion for delivering high-quality services.

His commitment to staff development and ability to drive positive change has made a lasting impact on his team, which is also recognised with the award.

The HEFMA Awards recognise the hard work, excellence, and achievements of NHS estates and facilities management professionals across the UK. In recent years,  Stepping Hill Hospital’s catering team has also won the HEFMA award for team of the year.
