Books to support children living with loss

17 Oct 2024 - Press Release

Stockport NHS Foundation Trust’s palliative care team has been working together with Stockport Council and library services to ensure a good selection of books are available to help support children and young adults who have suffered the loss of a parent or carer.

Books can help people feel less alone by showing characters who have experienced similar situations, helping them to understand what has happened and realise they are not alone in their feelings. These books are now available as a support in libraries across the Stockport borough.

There are over 20 different titles with multiple copies, free for people to access in support with discussing death and bereavement with children and young adults.

Heather Cooke (Library Assistant) , Charlotte Ryan (Macmillan), Bev Martin (Macmillan)
