Colleagues responsible for both building projects and maintenance at Stepping Hill Hospital have been shortlisted for a national award recognising their partnership work and achievement.
The Stockport NHS Foundation Trust Estates and Capital team have been shortlisted as ‘Estates and Facilities Team of the Year’ in the Healthcare Estates Awards 2024 run by IHEEM (Institute of Healthcare Engineering and Estate Management), which celebrates the best standards in the industry.
The team were nominated by builder contractors Tilbury Douglas, who are working with them to build and deliver the new emergency and urgent care campus on the hospital site.
The award recognises the close working partnership between both the capital colleagues organising the building project, and the estates colleagues overseeing the maintenance. The teams work together with Tilbury Douglas to ensure the building project can progress.
The care campus is a major project to enhance local care, with new high-quality assessment, treatment and consultation areas, enabling more patients to receive safe care and treatment sooner. The rapid assessment unit is already open, with the same day emergency care centre set to follow early next year.
Paul Featherstone, Director of Estates and Facilities for Stockport NHS Foundation Trust said “It is fantastic that our capital projects and estates colleagues being recognised at the national IHEEM Awards. Building the new emergency and urgent care campus to improve local care has been a real team project, and we’re glad the award reflects that. We wish them all the best of luck at the ceremony.”
The winners will be announced in the IHEEM Healthcare Estates Awards 2024 ceremony at Kimpton Clock Tower Hotel in Manchester on 8th October.
