It was an honour for Stockport NHS Foundation Trust to host a production of the ‘Hello My Name Is…’ play for members of its staff, helping to promote the ongoing worldwide campaign to help personalise care.
The play performance, held in the Pinewood training centre at Stepping Hill Hospital, told the moving story of Dr Kate Granger MBE, her husband Chris Pointon, how they met and fell in love, and their later campaign to encourage those caring for patients to introduce themselves by name.
Kate, a doctor from West Yorkshire, led the campaign following her experiences of being treated for cancer. By the time when she sadly died from her condition in 2016, the campaign had been taken on worldwide. Now, her widower Chris continues to spread the word with the campaign.
The play was all the more poignant for taking place on ‘Hello, My Name Is…’ Day – 23rd July, the date of Kate’s death.
Chris was also present at the play, and took questions at the end together with the actors who portrayed Kate and himself on the stage.
Following the moving performance, staff restated their commitment to the ‘Hello, My Name Is’ pledge to say their name and personalise the care they provide.
The performance was by Pluto Pay Productions, and supported with funding from Stockport NHS Charity. The visit was organised with the support of the trust`s patient experience team.
