Stockport NHS Foundation Trust’s Research and Innovation team have celebrated meeting and beating their NIHR (National Institute of Health and Care Research) target of patient volunteers for the 2023/24 recruitment year.
The team, based at Stepping Hill Hospital, recruited over 2,100 over the year, exceeding the target of 2,000.
They have worked with healthcare professionals across the trust, offering enrolment opportunities in over 80 different studies across 20 different specialties, including anaesthetics, cardiology, children, gastroenterology, rheumatology, reproductive health and emergencies. They also recruited in the field of frailty and ageing, a new area for the team. These increasing number of studies have helped to make Stepping Hill Hospital a key clinical research site in the Greater Manchester area.
The team has thanked all its many volunteers for taking part, and helping to improve treatment and care for all in the future.
