During the Covid19 health emergency, we need to ensure that our maternity services are safe for our babies and mothers-to-be. Unfortunately, due to staffing levels at this time, we have taken the difficult decision to temporarily suspend our homebirth service, to ensure the best care for all.
We are however still able to provide a home-from-home experience for mums-to-be in our birth centre, for those who are having a healthy, problem free pregnancy. The birth centre is midwife led and offers peaceful surroundings, with a calm and quiet atmosphere. it offers natural methods for labour and delivery, including birth pools, relaxation, soft music, along with birthing balls and stools.
This change has been made with the support of the Chair from our Maternity Voices Partnership (MVP), a team of parents and parents-to-be, hospital staff, community healthcare professionals and volunteers who are involved in local maternity services. This decision will be reviewed regularly. For more information on this and other changes to our maternity services please see the letter below which we are sending out to our mums-to-be.
