Students on  a training programme at Stepping Hill Hospital have been celebrating a year of success as they pass their placements.

The 10 interns were working as part of a long term internship programme run by Pure Innovations, a charity which helps people with disabilities live independent lives.  Cheadle and Marple College Network run the scheme together with Stockport NHS Foundation Trust, which runs the hospital, and Cheadle and Pure Innovations The scheme has now been running for three years.

The interns work in a number of different areas at the hospital, including domestic work, administration, reception and catering. The placements run for the academic year, and involve working and training with staff for four days a week, with classroom based training for the remaining day.

Several of those on the internship scheme have now gone on to permanent paid positions at the hospital and other employers including Life Leisure

Caroline Morgan, senior employment Officer for Pure Innovations said “It’s been a great celebration - this year’s class are really proud to have successfully completed their year. Once more the programme has helped the students in their skills and confidence, while they have provided really appreciated support to staff at Stepping Hill Hospital.
