The Radiology Department operates from several locations across the hospital, and offers a wide range of diagnostic investigations.
The Radiology services at Stepping Hospital comprise the following:
- Emergency radiography
- CT scanning
- Magnetic Resonance Imaging
- General radiography
- Radionuclide imaging (Nuclear Medicine)
- Ultrasound scanning - abdominal, musculo-skeletal & obstetric
- Interventional Radiology
- Fluoroscopy
- DEXA scanning
Locations
X-ray Department B is situated on the ground floor on the hospital main corridor. The following services are provided in this location:
- Radionuclide imaging (Nuclear Medicine)
- Ultrasound scanning – abdominal & musculo-skeletal
- Interventional radiology
- Fluoroscopy (Gastrointestinal studies)
- Dual Energy X-ray Absorption (DEXA or bone densitometry)
X-ray Department A is situated on the ground floor of the hospital adjacent to the Emergency Department and Outpatients A. The following services are provided in this location:
- Emergency radiography – for inpatients and Emergency Department patients
- CT scanning
- Magnetic Resonance Imaging – provided by Alliance Medical within the Stockport Imaging Centre
- General radiography – for out-patient clinics, fracture clinics and GP patients.
- Dental radiography
Women’s and children’s Ultrasound Department is situated on the ground floor of the hospital within the Child and Family department adjacent to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The following services are provided in this location:
- Obstetric Ultrasound
- Gynaecological Ultrasound
Coming to the Radiology Department
GP and Outpatient x-ray services
We run a `drop-in service’ for plain film GP and outpatient clinic patients from 8.00am to 5:00pm. It is important to note that we are an emergency service; and as such you may not always be seen immediately due to clinically urgent patients requiring urgent imaging.
For all other Diagnostic services you will receive an appointment letter prior to needing to attend.
Your referring doctor will be able to explain the examination to you and information regarding your examination.
All other Radiology services are by appointment only
You will receive an appointment letter which will include information regarding your examination. If you have any queries regarding your examination, you should contact the department on the number shown in the letter.
