Welcome to the Dolphin Room and Paediatric outpatients department. This is the children’s medical investigation unit and the out patient department for children.
- We are based on the ground floor of the Treehouse Children’s unit at Stepping Hill Hospital.
- You could be referred here by your GP to see a paediatrician who is an expert in managing the health of babies, children and young people.
- We undertake day case investigations which include diagnostic scans, hormone studies, food challenges and other procedures including blood tests and injections.
- Our service is from birth to 16 years, or older if your child is still under the care of a paediatrician.
|
|
- Our small nursing team of 6 staff is made up of qualified paediatric nurses, assistant practitioners and health care assistants. All of our staff are highly experienced in looking after children of all ages.
- We have undertaken specific training in the sedation and treatment of children and are highly experienced in procedures such as taking blood from all ages of children.
- We have all had training and are very experienced in the distraction of children when they are having medical procedures.

|
- To access our service a referral is required from one of our own paediatricians (if you have been an in patient or existing patient) or from your GP, a health visitor or midwife.
- We also accept referrals from other hospitals for children who live in the Stockport area and for some specialist clinics for children who live outside our area.
- You will receive your appointment in the post or by telephone. A telephone reminder service operates for the out patient appointments.
