Welcome to the ophthalmology clinic at Stepping Hill Hospital. The department of ophthalmology is made up of the Stockport Eye Centre and the ophthalmic outpatients department.

This unit has been designed to optimise the operational flow thereby ensuring patients spend the optimal amount of time in the unit on the day of surgery. All patients receive relevant information regarding their treatment and are also encouraged to watch an information video at their pre-assessment appointment.

The ward area provides highly skilled, nurse led pre assessment clinics, both Yag and Argon Laser rooms, four examination rooms and a two bedded ward area. As well as pre assessment, laser and urgency clinics, the ward cares for any ophthalmic inpatients that require intensive ophthalmic nursing and has a nurse led fundal fluorescein clinic.

Senior nursing staff are all ophthalmic trained and committed to providing a high quality service to patients. In our day case unit, Senior Sister Elouise Robinson and Sister Sandra Teague lead a team of staff nurses and clerical officers. In our theatre - Sister Jackie Farnell and Sister Kathy Madden lead a team of theatre nurses and health care assistants.
