About our service

We provide a wheelchair service for any resident registered with a Stockport GP. We offer a comprehensive service for those who have a disability or medical condition which significantly impairs their ability to walk.

The service can provide you with a suitable wheelchair, training and information on its appropriate use; adequate support to maintain good posture and appropriate alterations and adjustments as required.

We will establish your clinical needs and discuss how a wheelchair will help you to
achieve your goals.

If appropriate, you will be able to trial equipment at the assessment and if at all
possible, we will try to provide you with a wheelchair at that appointment.

At your appointment you will be assessed for NHS provision, or you may wish to opt to use your Personal Wheelchair Budget in a different way. All options will be
discussed with you at the time of the assessment.

Details of our Approved Repairer Service will be given to you when you are issued
with a wheelchair. The Approved Repairer will carry out maintenance and repairs, this is free of charge (providing repairs and maintenance are due to fair wear and tear).
