Background / Profile
Steve Bromage is a Consultant Urological Surgeon at Stepping Hill Hospital. He also has clinics at Stepping Hill, Tameside, Macclesfield and Leighton Hospital. He graduated from Newcastle University and trained in Australia, New Zealand and Greater Manchester. Steve assesses and treats patients with general urological conditions and sub-specialises in surgical disorders of the kidney, particularly kidney cancer, as well as male infertility.
He performed the first laparoscopic partial nephrectomy using ICG dye which can fluoresce and highlight blood supply to tumours in the kidney. This has now been widely adopted in robotic surgery. He is one of the highest volume robotic kidney surgeons in the UK. Steve has had active roles in national research groups and national guideline committees.
His other specialist interest is male factor fertility, and he has published many original scientific articles in this area. He is trained in microsurgery and is very experienced in varicocele treatment, offering both laparoscopic varicocele surgery as well as microsurgical repair.
