Background / Profile
Dr Sam Desbruslais is a Consultant in General Anaesthesia at Stepping Hill Hospital. He completed his medical degree at Newcastle University and subsequently underwent extensive anaesthetic training across the Northwest Deanery, alongside experience in critical care in Australia. He holds the Final FRCA with a Chair’s Commendation, as well as a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education with Merit from Edge Hill University. Dr Desbruslais has a strong background in medical education, regional training leadership, and peer-reviewed research.
In his clinical practice at Stepping Hill Hospital, Dr Desbruslais has specialist interests in regional anaesthesia, paediatric anaesthesia, and difficult airway management. He is a GMC-recognised Educational and Clinical Supervisor, and a Resus Council Advanced Life Support (ALS) instructor. He is interested in service design and hospital system optimisation.
