Background / Profile
Mr Jones is a Consultant Urological Surgeon specialising in urological cancers, with a particular interest in prostate cancer. He provides personalised, risk-adapted care focused on achieving excellent cancer outcomes while preserving quality of life. His expertise includes multiparametric MRI interpretation, targeted transperineal prostate biopsy and robotic-assisted radical prostatectomy, including nerve-sparing surgery and the “hood technique” to support continence recovery. He manages the full spectrum of prostate cancer, from early-stage to advanced disease, with a strong emphasis on survivorship and supporting patients throughout their treatment journey.
Mr Jones graduated from the University of Manchester in 2013 and holds an MRes in Oncology with Distinction. He completed surgical training in the North-West of England and was awarded the Keith Yeates Gold Medal for outstanding performance in the FRCS (Urol) examination. His research into treatments for advanced prostate cancer at The Christie Hospital led to the award of an MD in 2023. He has published in leading journals including Lancet Oncology, JAMA Oncology and Annals of Oncology and remains actively involved in prostate cancer research through the STAMPEDE and STAMPEDE2 Trial Management Groups.
Alongside his clinical and academic work, Mr Jones is Early Diagnosis Lead for Urological Cancers at the Greater Manchester Cancer Alliance and a Prostate Cancer UK Clinical Champion. He is also a Consultant at Macclesfield General Hospital and Tameside General Hospital, where he serves as Deputy Clinical Director.
