Together with construction partners Tilbury Douglas, they are in the running for this year’s Construction News (CN) Awards, in the ‘Project of the Year – £20m – £50m’ category, for work on the hospital emergency and urgent care campus which was completed last year.
The project awards are for construction teams who deserve recognition for their high standard of work, and adherence to budget and client satisfaction in a healthy and safe working environment.
The emergency and urgent care campus at Stockport NHS Foundation Trust, which completed in 2025, has helped to greatly improve emergency care provision for the community.
The campus is centred on patient needs, with the best possible state-of-the-art facilities being made available for staff. It includes new assessment, treatment and consultation areas for several key emergency and urgent care services including the children’s emergency department, mental health, and medical same day emergency care.
In order to be shortlisted for the award, the project demonstrated high standards in innovation, sustainability, supporting for local companies and resources, health and safety, and client satisfaction.
Among other achievements, 88% of the workforce was locally sourced, 718 apprentice training weeks were completed, and a sector-leading partnership with Trafford College earned the Investment in Skills Partnership of the Year Award.
To promote sustainability; the project replaced diesel with hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO), reducing emissions by 59%, and also used electric plant to further minimise emissions and waste. The site also achieved a perfect 45/45 Considerate Constructors Scheme score.
Michelle Waddicor, Stockport NHS Foundation Trust Head of Capital Projects said ; “The emergency and urgent care campus construction project with Tilbury Douglas was a major undertaking, with hard work from many individuals over several years; a real example of a great team effort. We’re delighted that the success of this project has been recognised by being shortlisted for a Construction News Award, and are looking forward to competing with some of the best building projects across the country.”
The winners will be announced at the 2026 Construction News (CN) Awards ceremony which takes place on 9th July 2026 at the JW Marriott Grosvenor House London. The event marks the 30th anniversary of the awards, celebrating industry excellence.
