Nurses at both Stepping Hill Hospital and Stockport community services celebrated International Nurses Day on Friday 12th May.
The special day, held on Florence Nightingale’s Birthday, is marked around the world to give thanks for the amazing caring job they do all year round. One nurse even dressed up as Florence Nightingale on the day.
A number of celebration events took place at the hospital, with competitions for the best decorated ward doorways, a big nursing showcase at the Pinewood education centre, and goodie bags distributed to nursing colleagues across Stockport NHS Foundation Trust as a small gesture of thanks.
Two of our nursing colleagues, Deputy Chief Nurse Helen Howard, and Ward Sister and former HCA Leanne Clifford shared short messages for the day below
