We provide hospital and community health services for children and adults in Stockport and the High Peak,
as well as community health services across Tameside and Glossop.
Our aim is to:

We have good national ratings, with the third best mortality rates in the North of England and national recognition for our maternity and urology services.
We were one of the first Foundation Trusts in the country and have around 17,500 members.
Our annual income is around £275 million and we employ over 5,700 staff – making us the second largest employer in Stockport after the council. Our trauma & orthopaedics department is one of the largest in the country.
The hospitals we run are Stepping Hill Hospital (Stockport), Shire Hill Hospital (Glossop),
the Devonshire Centre for Neuro-rehabilitation (Stockport) and The Meadows palliative care centre
(Stockport). Our community services are delivered from 24 locations in Stockport and 17 locations across Tameside and
Glossop. We also run Swanbourne Gardens in Cheadle Heath, which provides overnight breaks for children and
young people, between the ages of 5-16 with severe learning disabilities and additional health needs.

Overall responsibility for delivering services rests with the Board of Directors who are accountable for operational performance as well as the definition and implementation of strategy and policy.
As a Foundation Trust we also have a Board of Governors who are the voice of the local community, the majority of whom are elected from our public membership.
