Coming to the Radiology Department

Appointments are now required for all Radiology services. There is no longer a `drop-in` option for GP patients. Due to the implications of Covid19 we have had to revise our service model in order to control the footfall in the department and facilitate safe social distancing standards. This does mean greater flexibility for patients wishing to attend outside of normal core hours as we now offer the service from 07:30am to 8:00pm. It is important to note that we are still an emergency service; and as such you may not always be seen at the appointed time due to clinically urgent patients requiring immediate imaging.

How do I arrange my x-ray?

  1. GP produces a referral - you cannot be seen without this. 2. You receive the referral. This can happen by one of 3 ways:
  • GP either sends a link to your phone or emails you the referral securely. You must be able to print the form if you opt for this method of contact.
  • You collect the referral from the GP practice.
  • The GP practice posts the referral to your address.
  1. You ring Radiology on 5980 to book a suitable slot. 4. You attend the department no more than 5 minutes before you are due. (This is necessary in order for us to control throughput in line with social distancing guidance)

For all other examinations you will receive an appointment letter.

Your referring doctor will be able to explain the examination to you and information regarding your examination will be included with your appointment letter where appropriate.

CT appointments

You will receive an appointment letter which will include information regarding your examination.  If you have any queries regarding your examination, you should contact the department on 0161 419 4776.
