Stepping Hill Hospital’s support service for bereaved parents is to benefit from  a local charity donation.

The SANDS charity Stockport branch has raised funds to help buy new furniture for the Sandalwood bereavement suite on the hospital’s maternity delivery suite. Parents can spend time with their baby on the suite before saying goodbye.

Several members of Stockport SANDS  received support from the bereavement staff following their own loss and wanted to raise the money as a thank-you. Stockport SANDS meets every month in Hazel Grove, offering a friendly and relaxed opportunity for bereaved parents, family and friends to meet with others who have been through a similar experience.
