A Stepping Hill Hospital patient has been commemorating an anniversary landmark during his stay.
Alix Houareau celebrated his 48th wedding anniversary to wife Anna in the hospital’s intensive care unit. Alix, 71, has been very ill with acute kidney injury, a foot infection and other conditions, and has been receiving dialysis treatment at the unit. While still poorly, Alix is thankfully now recovering and should be home soon.
Alix was originally from the Seychelles but settled in Hayfield, Derbyshire with Anna in 1979. Alix worked as a policeman in the town for 25 years before retiring.
Alix said “It’s been a very traumatic time, but I’d really like to thank all the staff on the ICU, they’ve been so caring and helpful, I can’t fault them in any way. I’m so pleased they’ve made sure me and Anna can celebrate our anniversary together.”
