Top class care for patients in Stockport was recognised at the Celebrating Stockport Good Practice Awards.
Care in both the hospital and the community were honoured at the awards, held at Stepping Hill Hospital’s education centre. Staff were nominated for going above and beyond in caring for patients, or in supporting those who do.
One of the winners was Ann Hudson, District nursing sister from Cheadle Hulme District Nursing team, for her inspirational leadership. Ann, who has been with the Trust for 43 years, won her award due to her nurturing and supportive manner, with her focus always being to ensure that Stockport residents receive the best research-based nursing care.
Other winners included Sitia Kroah, Workforce Analyst for creating an inclusive quality culture; Duncan O’Neill, senior head chef for promoting an outstanding NHS environment; Clare Fletcher as our Health Visitor of the Year; and John Ghent, volunteer helper and guide in our emergency department, who received the Chief Executive’s award for his dedication and commitment to his role.
Tina Harkin, Head of Organisational Development, said “It was truly inspiring to hear stories of excellent care and real innovation at these awards, and achievements across our hospital and community. As we celebrate 70 years of the NHS it is good to remember the commitment and care such as this which make up the best of the service.”
