Students on an internship training programme at Stepping Hill Hospital have celebrated successfully completing their year’s placements.
The 10 interns were all working as part of a long term internship programme between Stockport NHS Foundation Trust which runs the hospital, Cheadle and Marple College Network, and Pure Innovations, a charity which helps people with disabilities live independent lives.
The interns work in a number of different areas at the hospital, including domestic work, administration, reception and catering. The placements run for the academic year, and involve working and training with staff for four days a week, with classroom based training for the remaining day.
Several of those on the internship scheme have now gone on to permanent paid positions at the hospital & with external employers.Lu Barrie, Head of Inclusive Curriculum at Cheadle and Marple College Network said “This year’s supported Internship learners have been amazing. They have shown themselves to be extremely hardworking and dedicated, which has resulted in a number of paid outcomes at Stepping Hill hospital and in the local community. I am very proud of all of them and look forward to seeing how they get on in the world of work. A big well done to the class of 2018!”
