Information for visitors travelling by car
We want your journey to Stepping Hill Hospital to be as easy and convenient as possible. Please use the following information to plan your journey.
Park and Ride
A park and ride is located in Hazel Grove, Macclesfield Road (end of the 192 stop) with spaces for cars and bikes.
Linking Stockport and Manchester city centre, the route will stop at Stepping Hill, Heaviley, Stockport, Heaton Chapel, Levenshulme, Longsight and Ardwick.

You can park in the various car parking spaces around the site, however there are a limited number of spaces available. All car parking spaces are pay and display. You must pay for and display a valid car parking ticket when leaving your car (see Car Parking Fees below). Please see the hospital site map for the car parking zone information.
The trust has the following categories of car parks and parking areas, which are clearly signed:
- General patient and visitor
- Staff only
- Designated disabled parking areas
- Mixed use
Disabled people and cancer patients park for free and concessions are available to regular visitors, such as pregnant women and family members of long-term patients – please telephone the trust travel department on 0161 419 5032.
Our Trust employ security staff who regularly patrol the site to ensure people park in the appropriate parking areas. Parking notices are issued if there is not a valid parking ticket or permit. Vehicles without a valid ticket or permit may also be clamped.

Car Parking Fees
Car parking charges are as follows:
- Up to 2 hours: £2.50
- 2-4 hours: £4.00
- More than 4 hours: £6.00

A car park pass for maternity patients can be purchased for £10 which can be re used throughout your pregnancy, these can be purchased from the maternity reception, antenatal clinic or the general office (located in the Rowan Suite).
Disabled Car Parking
Disabled car parking spaces are free of charge, however a valid blue badge must be displayed clearly on the vehicle. There are a number of disabled car parking spaces around the site which are clearly shown on the hospital site map.
