Information for visitors travelling by car
Please note that car parking on our site is limited. We therefore advise you to come by public transport or make other arrangements where possible. We want your journey to Stepping Hill Hospital to be as easy and convenient as possible. Please use the following information to plan your journey.
Park and Ride
A park and ride is located in Hazel Grove, Macclesfield Road SK7 6BF (end of the 192 stop) with spaces for cars and bikes.
Linking Stockport and Manchester city centre, the route will stop at Stepping Hill, Heaviley, Stockport, Heaton Chapel, Levenshulme, Longsight and Ardwick. You can find out more about the Hazel Grove Park & Ride, including services and bus routes that come through Stepping Hill Hospital and where bus stops on site are located. The Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) website also provides useful information for travelling around the area.
You can park in the various car parking spaces around the site, however there are a limited number of spaces available. All car parking spaces are pay and display. You must pay for and display a valid car parking ticket when leaving your car (see Car Parking Fees below). Please see the hospital site map for the car parking zone information.
The trust has the following categories of car parks and parking areas, which are clearly signed:
- General patient and visitor
- Staff only
- Designated disabled parking areas
- Mixed use
Disabled people, carers for patients with dementia, and cancer patients are able to park for free in line with our car parking policy.
Reduced weekly rate concession passes are available to regular visitors, such as pregnant women, dermatology patients, and family members of long-term patients. Please telephone our travel department in the first instance on 0161 419 5032.
We employ security staff who regularly patrol the site to ensure people park in the appropriate parking areas. Parking notices are issued by our external car park management company if there is not a valid parking ticket or permit.
For details of community clinics in Stockport and the High peak please contact the individual clinic.
